About

SAFDAR was formed in 2006 by three international musicians from totally different backgrounds and rose out of the diverse bustling Boston underground music scene. The band is comprised of Guitarist/songwriter Saf Quraeshi, bassist Alex Goumas, and drummer Nic Rochefort. The guys met when Saf approached some friends at Boston’s Berklee College of Music with the vision to put together a group of diverse musicians who had a broad range of musical taste and influences. The band members were born and raised in the USA, Asia, and Canada and met in Boston through common friends familiar with Saf’s material who thought there may be a good musical fit and chemistry between them. The band’s challenge was to find outstanding international musicians who could form the vision into a melodic rock sound with a socially conscious perspective, and create material which people could relate to on many levels. With this in mind, Saf brought a few song ideas and riffs to Nic and Alex, and the guys immediately rolled up their sleeves and jumped into intense rehearsal and arrangement sessions to realize the goal of the debut Album. After months of work and sleepless nights at Wellspring Studios in Acton MA, the songs which comprise the Album “Change of Season” took on a life of its own. The guys wanted the first few songs to mean something in terms of current events that people see around them in the media; events that affect people’s lives and the lives of those around them on a daily basis. They tinged the songs catchy, melodic rock core with a dose of lyrical skepticism so that people could relate the words and music to real issues around them. Take “Change of Season” the first single from the upcoming debut album, the song is peppered with references to current events you see on TV or read about - global conflict, stratification, manipulation, revolution, and societies in transition. Other tracks like “Path that you are meant for” reflect on issues a broad range of listeners can connect with including self discovery, purpose, truth, direction, and conscience. “Top of the world” talks about perseverance, the fight and struggle of everyday life, and never giving up in what you believe is possible. Currently the band is in the process of finishing up its first video for the album and plans to embark on a promotional effort to support Change of Season. Thanks for your precious time - Peace and Love.
